The Wasilla Project

Here's an interesting video by a group called Wasilla Project. They are a group of independent filmmakers. They are putting out a series of videos in order to discover the real Sarah Palin. The videos will feature real Wasillans in their own voice.

From their FAQ:
So we decided to go to Wasilla to find out for ourselves.

What do the people of Wasilla really believe about Sarah Palin? Who is she? How was she as an executive in Wasilla? Is she a religious fanatic? A competent administrator? A compassionate conservative or a dangerous kook?

By taking a credible, authentic look at the real Wasilla, and the real Sarah Palin, in the first person voices of the people who really know her, we hope to counter the mythical “narrative” with something a lot more nuanced and valuable.

The purpose of the project is to produce a series of short (2-3 minute), video portraits of Sarah Palin and her hometown of Wasilla that can be a valuable addition to the prevailing impressions of her. As time and resources allow, we may do a longer edit as well, one which goes into depth on broader topics raised by Palin and her political career.

The audience for these videos are not the already decided on the right or the left, it’s a much as possible people who are undecided, people who want to believe in an inspiring narrative, while voting in the best interests of themselves and the country.

Who are we? Our team is a group of friends who often work together on various film projects, and had a common interest in understanding who Governor Palin is. We feel that good media that's informative and thoughtful is crucial to democracy. We sent the word out to family and friends and soon had raised the money for flights and hotels. We are volunteering to put together these films and produce this site. Our hope is that people who come to this site and watch our videos, will be similarly inspired to take action and get involved. We all benefit when we live in a country where people are informed and dedicated to voting with their hearts AND their minds. Thank you for your interest and ideas.
