Comedy in Commentary

Last night after President Obama's SOTU, Fox Noise, in all it's wisdom, offered up political commentary. The stellar comedy, er, commentary was spewed by none other than the Queen of word salad speaking, Sarah Palin.

Now, after listening to her espouse nonsense, I am reminded of another great speaker. None other than Oswald bates from In Living Color!

At least Oswald didn't run for V.P. and was genuinely funny! Sarah, Sarah, now we know where you picked up your style!

Finally Some Computer Relief

Well, hell's bells! Finally some things are working out correctly. So, fixes were:

upgraded the RAM on this 4 year old computer to 4G

brand new video card installed courtesy of Dell

upgraded the OS from WIN XP Pro 32 bit to WIN 7 Ultimate 64 bit

new wireless keyboard and mouse.

After all that everything is running smoothly. The new OS installation was so very easy. Tweaked the monitor a bit and updated all drivers. Installed new software for the printer since there was a WIN 7 conflict. Backed up all my data online prior to doing anything and it's been restored.

I'm a thrifty dog and didn't feel like buying a new computer right now...maybe in a year or so. I know some people would not have gone this route but it was a great way to save money. It was the reason I bought a computer that could be upgraded. I also thought I'd have to replace lots of programs because I went to WIN 7 64 bit but I'm finding many still function fine. Now that saved me tons of money.

All in all, things are so much better. Now I'm going to go play with all the new things WIN 7 offers. I must say I do like that snip tool and WIN7 Ultimate has everything I need.

Computers Still Conspire Against Me!

Sheesh, truly. I hoped that my computer issues were over. Alas, not the case. Some of it my fault, some of it the cat's fault and some it just a damn conspiracy by machines intent on testing my sanity! HA! So the story goes as follows:

As I was packing up the laptop to head north for Christmas for a week a cat tried to kill me. LOL Bacchus the fat decided to run in front of me and then STOP...suddenly. At the time I had the keyboard for my docking station in my hands, fell over the cat and WHAM, keyboard hits the floor. Chalk up 1 keyboard fatality. I can still use the mouse and I have a new wireless keyboard and mouse on order. I hate typing on laptop keyboards. First because I'm a crappy typist and second they're just too small for my tastes. However, I do like the portability hence the docking station and wireless keyboard and mouse.

The culprit:

So I come home, leave the laptop packed and head off to the office desktop. Within a couple weeks I start noticing weird video pixel effects around my mouse pointer. Cute colors: orange, blue, red. Crap! It comes and goes and eventually gets worse and starts screwing up my screen and finally WHAM--- it shuts down my computer. Windows is nice enough to tell me a video driver has stopped functioning on that blue screen and if it's not the device it could need a driver update. O.K., fine. I update. No help. Slam, shuts off the computer. I need a new video card. So I call DELL and spend 3 hours on the phone with, how shall I say this, IDIOTS! Finally, I get hardware tech support and tell them the same story and they decide to send me a tech with a new video card. Heh. Not bad for a 4 year old computer. However, I have to say as awful as I think DELL customer service/techs are they are much better than HP!

I also decided to upgrade the desktop instead of buying a new one. So it's going to get bumped up to 4G and Windows 7 Ultimate. I'll get a new desktop in maybe a year. Until that happens I'm back on the laptop. It'll be better as soon as the new keyboard arrives. It's a darn good thing I have spell check and infinite time or I'd really be in trouble. And so ends the story of computer insanity for the beginning of 2010. I'm remaining optimistic that I shall not have any more issues for the rest of the year. Otherwise some machine is going to get punched out! LOL

It's A New Year and She STILL Won't Go Away

Although the year started out on a sad note I looked forward to better days. Politically, I honestly thought Sarah Palin would gain some humility and silence herself for a change. Little did I realize the depths of her narcissistic depravity!

Alas, my hopes were dashed. What with last night's 60 minutes segment and the new book Game Change, once again America is subjected to insanity. Deeper we delve into tabloid politics.

I must say though that John McCain should hang his head in shame for what he attempted to foist on America. A wholly unqualified political neophyte that took the job because it was "God's Plan". Whiskey. Tango. Foxtrot! Reminds me of a song:

Bahahahaha. It must have been God's plan for her to lose. Yay!

And it gets worse. She's been hired by Fox News. Hopefully that takes her out of any 2012 running. I actually don't think she was ever running in 2012. I think she was just continuing her grifting. Thankfully, I don't watch Fox but for those that do the mind-numbing ignorance factor just ratcheted up a few notches. What a sad statement about the state of America.
